²⁵ All those who fell that day, both men and women, were twelve thousand—all the people of Ai. ²⁶ Joshua did not lower his hand that held the javelin until he had completely destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai. ²⁷ But the livestock and the plunder from that city the Israelites took as spoils of war for themselves, according to the word of the Lord that he had commanded Joshua.
